End of the year: Teacher gift

It's the end of the year - and time for a final goodbye to kindergarten and a teacher gift. We moved here at the end of the year so I had to think about what would be a good gift for Katie's new teacher. I saw something like this on Pinterest and knew it would be so cute!

I looked around at stores I was at over the past few weeks for the perfect cold cup and I decided on this one from a local office supply store.

The flag says "have a refreshing summer" - you can click the photos to see them in more detail.

I did the lettering on the flag with sketch pens and my silhouette cameo. I decorated the front of the gift card by cutting a heart (by hand) from a scrap of chalkboard contact paper and writing on it with a white chalk pen.

Inside: $10 Starbucks gift card and two favorite headbands that I made for her. You can purchase similar fantastic headbands from Hank Orange on etsy.

Amy Tangerine Sketchbook

Here are two projects that I have for you today, both made with scraps of the same papers:

I made this card for NSD Card Challenge #1 - Mask it, for my mother-in-law's Mother's Day card. She likes bright colors. The stamping and masking wasn't quite what I expected but still turned out cute for the background :)

I used the scrap from the card that I made earlier with the feather, and inked (with chalk ink, that spread) over the feather to create the pattern here to make my own patterned paper. I signed the back of the bags, they're a birthday gift for a friend's girls. :) I stitched all the layers of paper on the back tote :)

Color Palette Challenge

I saw the Paper Girls color palette challenge this morning, based on these colors:

I knew that these photos were next up to be scrapped. I thought these colors would work perfectly for the photos that I had:

I almost didn't scrap these photos- it's hard to scrap things that are not happy! This layout is about saying goodbye to close friends and moving away.

This layout was also inspired by the Pop off the Page class that I am taking over at StudioCalico.com and I am entering it in the Scrapbook Steals layering thread. Lots of motivation to scrap these photos :)

Moving on to happier times next - Olivia's 3rd Birthday!

SWAT Drill # 8 - My Sketch!

Good morning!

Here is the sketch that I designed for this SWAT challenge:

And here is the layout that I made to go with this sketch:

I used October Afternoon's Midway collection for most of this layout, and I wanted to include our 2012 GG passes in the layout as well. I had so many fun photos from this summer there that I loved and wanted to pick a few to group for this layout.

You can create your own layout using my sketch and submit it on the SWAT blog to win this week's prize!

Here is the prize for this challenge:

Hot Off the Craft Table

Here are some recent projects that I have this morning to share :)

I made this layout for the Pop Off the Page 2 class Challenge #3. From the third PDF I took the inspiration to create a Project Life "style" of page. I don't do project life but I do like the look of it. This layout is Katie's first day (again) of Kindergarten when we moved to a new area.

I created this layout for the Pop2 Class (Challenge #2, mixed media: fabric). This is my first layout with this large of a piece of fabric!
I was saving this fabric for a quilt for a boy if we ever had one (so this fabric is maybe 6 years old) - time to stop saving and start using!
Fantastic Frog is the special student of the day, which Katie was able to be a few times this year, and this photo was taken just before we moved away.
I also used a couple of goodies from Pop2: the green tag and paperclip.
There is journaling hidden under the photo.

Here is my layout for Pop off the Page Challenge #2, mixed media. My first try with gelatos and water did not go so well, here is what I made on my second try. I used the Heidi Swapp dot mask and the gelatos with water for the masking behind the photos. And I wanted to make it look like the paint was dripping off the brush, so I misted with Mister Hueys and added additional water.

Happy Teacher's Appreciation Week!

Good morning!

I am going to share the project that I made for Katie to take to school for her teacher today:

I made this project using the milk carton and carrier cut files, available here and the October Afternoon line "Farm Girl".

To make the chalk look, I used black cardstock with white gel pen :)

I noticed that a couple of restaurants are offering specials for teachers this week, here's one of my favorites:

SWAT Challenge #7 - Tic Tac Toe

The challenge for this week's SWAT is to use the tic tac toe board and the rules are included in this photo:

Here is my layout - I used the first row: 3 buttons, doodle and stamping!

Olivia is such a fan of lipgloss, for pretty much the whole year that she was two years old, she had a morning routine of going around and around and around with three different glosses. It was so cute! I wanted to give the large title a glossy effect too and I was really happy with how it came out!

You can check out other tic tac toe layouts and enter to win this week's cool prize on the SWAT blog.

Mary's Card

Just a quickie share of a card that I made yesterday - these are my favorite colors together, but I was also happy with how it turned out!

Big Sur layout

Here is the layout that I just (finally) finished - with photos of our short trip to Big Sur in January. I had the idea for this layout when taking an online class called "big ideas" by Studio Calico, which gave me the vision for the map under lay, as well as the oversized and stitched title.

I won't share how long it took me to stitch that title with bakers twine, but I will say that if you're wanting to try this out, take my advice and sew through just a single sheet of paper and use some embroidery floss- you will have a much easier and quicker time.

Polka Dotted Tie Top

Good morning!

I have a quickie project that I made this past weekend, it's a tie top that I saw something like on Pinterest last summer and kept wanting to get around to making but didn't have the chance. I had even saved this tee shirt from the giveaway bin.

These are not the best photos, but if you're interested in making one you can check out this tutorial and hopefully these pictures give you some further idea about how the finished project turns out. :) I did not use that tutorial, but I did read it last year and still had the info tucked away for the basic idea. I did make mine a lot more fitted than hers and I think I would make the top and bottom both a little wider next time.
